Connecting Every Screen: From Launch to Reels
Improved flow consistency and playback state synchronization across the full sequence from app launch to reels browsing.
From app launch to reaching reels, users pass through splash, onboarding, explore, and library in sequence. Because each screen was built independently, transition points introduced flow interruptions. Individual features functioned correctly, but the end-to-end experience lacked consistency.
This update focused on flow consistency across screens rather than adding new functionality. Reel video transitions and loop playback were stabilized, and the splash-to-onboarding entry sequence was refined. Content presentation standards were also unified across moment, inst, recommendation, and explore surfaces to reduce visual inconsistencies between screens.
Synchronization between playback state and screen state was addressed as part of the same work. When the two fall out of sync during video transitions, users encounter repeated friction. The short path from first launch to completing a first reel scroll is the product's primary first impression, and its reliability directly affects user perception.
