Distinct Entry Patterns Across Screens

2025.11.21Technical Log#product-ui#sleep#playback

Applied screen-specific visual language and transition styles to surfaces that had previously shared a uniform layout structure, improving navigational coherence across key flows.

The product had accumulated features across multiple surfaces, but those surfaces shared a uniform layout structure regardless of their purpose. The sleep entry screen, login screen, and premium upsell screen each serve a different function, yet presented nearly identical entry experiences. This work focused on applying distinct visual language and transition behavior tailored to each screen's intent.

The sleep flow was adjusted to maintain a consistent atmosphere from content selection through alarm setup. Background color and motion were calibrated to a subdued tone, and inter-screen transitions were smoothed to create a coherent progression from selection to sleep preparation. The login and premium screens received dynamic backgrounds, shifting them from static informational displays to more engaging surfaces.

On the playback side, a desync between Now Playing and the lock screen remote control was resolved. The fix aligns the displayed track information, lock screen metadata, and the lifecycle of the underlying resources. This ensures playback controls remain accurate and functional after screen transitions.
