Uninterrupted Playback Control Across Lock Screen
Aligned lock screen and Now Playing controls with in-app playback state, and standardized track dismissal behavior and UI copy across languages.
Playback continues after the screen turns off. Controls triggered from the lock screen or Now Playing widget must produce the same result as controls used within the app. When in-app playback state lags behind external input, a single playback session appears to be managed by two separate interfaces — directly degrading playback consistency.
The primary scope of this update was UI layout correctness, with additional work to align moment and inst content under a consistent presentation standard. Copy for the track dismissal action was revised across all supported languages to ensure the behavior reads identically regardless of locale. Inconsistent phrasing causes the same action to appear as different functionality depending on the language.
The sleep routine entry flow and alarm handoff path were also addressed. General listening and pre-sleep listening occur in different usage contexts; cleaner control transitions between these states reduce friction during nighttime use. The goal was to ensure that playback can be managed consistently as a single session, regardless of whether the screen is active.
