From Feature List to User Flow

2026.03.09Technical Log#product-ui#content#diary

Disparate screens were re-aligned into a coherent user flow, and the diary storage structure was established to ensure daily records persist reliably within the product.

There were gaps in the end-to-end path from app launch through content discovery, playback, and journaling. Each screen functioned independently, but the connected experience read as a sequence of isolated features rather than a unified flow. This work focused not on individual screen fixes but on realigning the entire path — from entry through exploration and playback — to a consistent standard.

The most significant changes were at the intersection of screens and content. Exposure logic for moment and inst was unified, and recommendation and discovery paths were brought into alignment. Key transition points — splash, onboarding, and the mini player — were refined to eliminate flow interruptions. Remote control behavior on the lock screen and Now Playing, along with effects processing, were also corrected where they diverged from the intended flow.

The diary module received a new storage foundation. Rather than displaying records transiently, the work established onboarding state retrieval and a durable storage path, ensuring entries persist within the product across sessions. Continuity of experience and persistence of records represent two aspects of the same product direction.
