Screens as a Coherent Flow, Not a Feature List

2026.03.21Technical Log#product-ui#content#playback

Unified visual language and playback state ownership across screens to establish consistent end-to-end product flow.

Individual screens can function correctly in isolation while still producing a fragmented experience when used in sequence. The objective of this work was to align the expressive standards across screens so that the product reads as a unified flow.

The most significant changes were made to content exposure rules and playback state management. The moment and inst surfaces, along with recommendation and explore views, were brought under a consistent set of display rules. The mini player, video transition, and loop behaviors were consolidated to reference a single playback state. When audio state, video state, mount state, and Now Playing each resolve independently, minor inconsistencies surface directly as rendering errors — the fix was to establish a single source of state that each screen renders from.

The sleep routine and diary areas received narrower adjustments focused on entry and exit flow consistency. Aligning the path from sleep selection through alarm and the daily logging flow to a common interaction tone reduces context discontinuity during screen transitions.
