One Playback State Across All Surfaces

2026.04.15Technical Log#product-ui#playback#content

Aligned the mini player, reels, and lock screen remote control to reference a single playback state, and standardized content visibility rules and first-launch screens.

Several inconsistencies were identified across UI surfaces: track metadata displayed in the mini player diverged from the lock screen Now Playing widget, and the main screen was slow to reflect remote control inputs. These discrepancies do not appear in feature specifications but directly degrade the reliability of the playback experience.

The mini player, reels playback, and lock screen remote control were aligned to reference a single source of playback state. The initialization and teardown order for effects, reverb, audio session, and track loading were also corrected. Content visibility rules for moments, insts, recommendations, and discovery were unified under a consistent policy.

Splash and onboarding screens were updated for consistency at first launch. The outcome is that playback state is accurately reflected regardless of which UI surface is used for control.
