Consistent Playback Control from the Lock Screen

2026.04.16Technical Log#product-ui#playback#content

Unified the lock screen remote controls, mini player, and video transition logic under a single playback state source, ensuring consistent control regardless of which surface the user interacts with.

When lock screen and notification area remote controls diverge from the app's internal playback state, the inconsistency does not appear in a feature checklist — but it directly undermines user trust. Post-launch review identified playback control consistency as the highest-priority area for improvement.

The objective was to unify the lock screen remote controls, mini player, and video loop transitions so all surfaces reference the same playback state source. Regardless of which control surface is used, the current playback status is read from a single source and each UI layer reflects that state consistently.

Content visibility rules were aligned in the same pass. When moment, inst, recommendation, and discovery sections operate under differing rules, the overall experience becomes fragmented. Audio quality — including effects and reverb processing — and content exposure were brought to a consistent standard, establishing a more stable foundation for the playback experience.
